What do we expect?

  • A bachelor degree towards Mechanical Engineering, Automotive or Engineering;
  • To be successful you have knowledge of: Lean, Continuous Improvement, MS Office, 8D procedures, 3D CAD and PLM systems (Solidworks);
  • You have a flexible and solution-oriented attitude. You are pragmatic, willing to travel, have good communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team;
  • You have at least 3 to 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer or as a Project leader. Your technical background helps you to support the engineers in the project team;
  • Knowledge of and experience within the automotive industry is a big plus.

As Lead Mechanical Engineer you are a spider in the web and involved in the entire project. In this versatile position, you are constantly translating customer requirements into the mechanical design. You are in daily contact with (international) customers, suppliers and external parties about the product jigs and robot grippers used in projects. You evaluate the designs that the external parties make for AWL. You always have an eye for the optimal ratio between price and technical execution. 
You manage people and ensure good coordination and guidance of the external parties and AWL. 

What is ultimately built on the floor is "our" product. You are really working on something concrete. At AWL-Techniek we supply machines mainly to customers in the automotive, general industry and logistics market. You will contribute to the further development of our standards and concepts.
Depending on your wishes and ambitions, you could for example grow into a Project Leader. 

This will be your day

8:00 Full of enthusiasm you start the week. After a cup of coffee with your colleagues you start the day. You determine your deliverables for this week and you block some time for adhoc issues. You actively have 2 projects running, that gives you a lot of energy!
10:00 You dive back into your project, in which you are already in the final phase of the concept of the design. Today you, together with the engineer from an external engineering company, prepare a presentation to the customer in which you show the progress and the final design. Tipical discussions have to do with: feaseabilty, safety, cycle time.
13:00 After lunch break and a walk outside with your colleagues you dive back into your project. A meeting is scheduled to hand over parts of your project to your colleagues in hardware engineering. They continue with the specifications.
15:00 You receive a call from the shop floor regarding one of your projects. Because you are the lead engineer, you naturally act as a consultant and help your colleagues on the shop floor to solve issues and finally deliver a wonderful machine!
16:30 Time flies! It is already 16:30pm! You are going to finalize the day and lock your laptop. With a satisfied feeling you go back to home.
